Okay, I’ve tried my best to have science fiction posts be a vast minority here at Themes, but I’m sorry, I’m a huge Star Wars fan, and the upcoming release of these stamps almost makes up for the fact that postage is going up another two cents. Allllmost. (Press release is here.)
Seriously though, franchises, science fiction ones in particular, very rarely make it so far as to appear on United States postage. One might even go so far to say that, because of this governmental recognition, the holy war is settled once and for all…?
“Star Wars fans everywhere will delight in the issuance of these exciting new postage stamps,” said David Failor, executive director of Stamp Services, U.S. Postal Service, who hosted the stamp preview. “Because of the movies’ popularity, we believe these stamps have the potential of reaching the blockbuster status of the Elvis stamp, a milestone only the Force could attempt to surpass.”
