This is one of the most fantastic LEGO models I’ve seen. The Discovery is featured in the films 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Make Contact, and this model is rendered in meticulous LEGO detail. A real visual treat!

Cue “The Blue Danube”, Hal! LEGO has so exhausted the Star Wars vehicle and film locale compendium that it’s begun creating toys based on stuff that exists only in the novels. Sheesh! Get a clue, LEGO, and pay this guy for the rights to mass produce the Discovery!
Chant along with me: More Kubrick! Less Lucas! More Kubrick! Less Lucas!

I didn’t realized they were creating novel-only ships now, what crap. (Speaking as someone who has read most of the novels, up until a decade ago.)
At least FOX strong-armed Lucas into releasing the original trilogy films on DVD, even if they were just “extras”.
As for LEGOs, my wish is the same as it was twenty-odd years back: I just want the Monorail from the original Space series.
