Multiple layers of wood highlight a subtle ‘Man in the Moon’ and elegantly envelops a mirror to create a focal point that demands attention on any wall. Russian birch wood and Indonesian lauan wood are laminated, carved, and sanded to reveal the hidden beauty within the layers. Individually handcrafted in Florida, this mirror features a smooth, durable, semi-gloss transparent finish which requires no special care.
I think what I like about it, above other renditions of the same basic concept (in other mediums), is the simplification and lack of detail. Maybe not the surface of the lunar wonderland/wasteland nearest us – maybe more like the surface of lunar locale visited by a pulp magazine space explorer who encounters a markedly mentally advanced, malevolent lifeform that takes the form of WWII bathing beauty and leaves him a listless lunar-tic for our moral instruction and amusement – but a lunar surface nonetheless.
Yeah, I can see that. [nods] There should be some small moon-creatures observing all of that, though. Peeking out of craters, perhaps?
