John Harris is an artist with a very recognizable style; the images here are book covers for Ender’s Game and Speaker For The Dead, both by Orson Scott Card. His website states:

Wow. You know, I adore Ender’s Game/Speaker for the Dead, and I read both books over and over again when I was in middle school… But I never really looked at the cover illustrations before. I remember that the covers of my paperback editions were so crammed with giant text that the illustrative artwork didn’t even register in my brain. Wow. These are beautiful. I can’t believe that I just ignored those covers for so many years.
I know what you mean — I did likewise for many years. The top one I recognized instantly, but only because that cover is so distinctive to me… that distant horizon. It wasn’t until I went back a few days later to look again that I realized, oh, that’s the Speaker for the Dead cover! The art is just fantastic.

I love John Harris’s work—and Card’s too, by the way. The only thing that can be said against Harris’s covers for the Ender Series is that they have nothing to do with the novels’ content. Harris’s book “Mass” is a must for fans of sf art.
