Mysterious space cards, revealed!

Space Age card collection by Brooke Bond (Red Rose) Tea Co.

Back in June, I posted this image having no idea what it was or where it came from. I’ve solved that mystery on both counts. The image comes from this website. The image is of the Series #12 “The Space Age” card collection by Brooke Bond (Red Rose) Tea Co., issued in 1969 and released in the United States and Canada, with art done by the National Wildlife Federation.

From the author of the aforementioned website:

The NWF uses space as a theme for several books. It is unclear if they commissioned this group of artwork just for Brooke Bond or not. No artist signatures can be seen in any of the artwork. The space depictions and the space craft are exceptional. This is one of my favorites. This is the series I collected as a kid.

The artwork is just gorgeous — I can’t get over it. Would definitely like to get a set of these someday!
