As I frequently apologize for mention, I try not to overwhelm this blog with my fandom of choice, but some things are too beautiful to let them pass me by. (Via DBSW.)
Charmed

I really have been trying to post less Star Wars things, but this charm bracelet knocked me out from a creative/beader standpoint. (I’d love to know where the silver/gold spotty beads come from. Pretty stuff!)
Star Wars Day

I found this post weeks ago. I wasn’t intentionally waiting for Star Wars Day, but here we are, so here you go: “Artist Steve Bialik represents legendary Star Wars characters as samurai from traditional Japanese art.”

This makes the VAB look terribly mysterious. Puts a little more -fi in the sci? ↓

Crafty Star Wars

I will always be a Star Wars geek. Yes, I like Star Trek, but it’s not like you can crochet a USS Enterprise amigurumi… well, ok, maybe you can, but, point being, there’s lots of things to craft when it comes to the Star Wars universe, and I am not seeing a bunch of Star Trek crafts online. You see? Star Wars WINS. Ahem. ANYWAY. I flipped when I saw these amigurumi at Geek Dad, especially Chewie here. Chewie, you are adorable and totally worth buying a $3.50 pattern so I can create you myself. (You can buy all ten patterns on Etsy.)
Another item in the amazing crafts department is this metro-ticket X-Wing fighter:
It’s a thing of beauty, truly. (I love the X-Wing.) Them being Paris metro tickets makes them that much cooler, I admit.
Last but certainly not least: not really a craft, but LEGO art of the most charming sort. A cross between Star Wars and the utmost in British sensibilities, the cup of TEA. The creator has made the two Keep Calm and Carry On posters available for sale as cards and posters: Imperial version | Rebel version
Planet Posters

All art on this post © justinvg.
I owe my finding of these fantastic Star Wars planet “poster” graphics to my friend Lexa (who makes me look like I have merely a casual interest in the Star Wars universe. Which, uh… is really not the case!!) I dearly hope justinvg gets these made as actual posters; they’d go so well with the IYA 2009 posters which I long to own.
UPDATE: Posters available here!!

I love Star Wars, so naturally this Flickr set of poster and wallpaper-quality pictures thrilled me to bits. (Not that I want the Imperial forces to invade San Francisco, of course… but the imagery is pretty darn awesome, I have to admit.) Get the whole set here!

Science fiction takes US stamps by storm(troopers)
Posted by Danielle in Currency & Postage on March 28, 2007

Okay, I’ve tried my best to have science fiction posts be a vast minority here at Themes, but I’m sorry, I’m a huge Star Wars fan, and the upcoming release of these stamps almost makes up for the fact that postage is going up another two cents. Allllmost. (Press release is here.)
Seriously though, franchises, science fiction ones in particular, very rarely make it so far as to appear on United States postage. One might even go so far to say that, because of this governmental recognition, the holy war is settled once and for all…?
“Star Wars fans everywhere will delight in the issuance of these exciting new postage stamps,” said David Failor, executive director of Stamp Services, U.S. Postal Service, who hosted the stamp preview. “Because of the movies’ popularity, we believe these stamps have the potential of reaching the blockbuster status of the Elvis stamp, a milestone only the Force could attempt to surpass.”
I need not argue in the stamps’ favor here, because all questions of coolness lie answered by the following, Exhibit A:
